Understanding Mental Peace

The Dalai Lama said that there is no greater wealth in the world than peace of mind. Dada Vaswani, a spiritual Guru echoed similar feelings when he said, "Happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give - pleasure, possessions, power - but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy".
Mental peace is simply not allowing your emotions to get the better of you. Not to be overwhelmed in the face of anxiety, stress or sadness or over elated in triumph and glory. To always stay emotionally and mentally controlled and unshaken.
Mental peace keeps us focused and concentrate better in the work that is apportioned to us. It helps us develop endurance and tolerance, a sense of strength and endurance, peace and serenity, and internal happiness and bliss. If you look at the face of a monk or a hermit, you will sense a feeling of tranquillity and serenity. They exude an aura of inner peace that keeps them calm and composed and in control of their mind and emotions at all times. Mental peace will help eliminate all your worries, uncertainties, adverse feelings, strains, lack of fulfilment, and melancholy and replace them with positive emotions of joy, cheerfulness, contentment, peace and harmony.
The sad unavoidable truth is that our pure minds are trespassed into by germs of negativity, jealousy, hatred, bitterness, anxiety and fretfulness brought on by financial losses, hectic schedules, ruined relationships, breach of trust and so many other things over which we may or may not have control.
The first thing to do is to unclutter your mind and rid it of things that are bowing you down. Just as it is very hard for a wife to cook in a messy cluttered kitchen similarly it is hard to work with a messed up mind. Clear space in the mind. Slow down. Don’t be frenzied at all times. Driving is always easier and less worrisome when you are driving at a slow speed, similarly we allow our minds to over-speed by over thinking and multitasking. An uncluttered, streamlined and organized, tidy well-arranged space makes the mind clearer and cleaner so we can think and work better. The moment you decide that you will not allow your schedules to control your emotions inner peace will begin. We at the School Of Unlearning will help you with techniques and skills that will help you gain mental peace and happiness.
